Rhythm Games

To be quite honest, I don't play console and arcade games even close to as much as I play mobile ones. But they definitely do exist and I do play them.

Pretty much all of the arcade games that I have access to are dance games, and sadly my skills on them are not very advanced as it's only something I got into in the past few years and I don't have frequent access to.

My arcade game wishlist of things to try Eventually(tm) is probably:

I will actually be going to the US in 2025!! So I'm excited to try this "Round1" that all these Americans have access to...

In The Groove

This is specifically the cab at Yonge-Eglinton Centre Cineplex. The CRT is a little funny and I have never gotten USB to work (not sure if it's just my stick), but it's my favourite machine nonetheless. Love the song selection and also the fact that I never see another soul when I go (usually weekdays midday).

UPDATE May 2024: To whoever is maintaining this thing: I love you? I noticed a few months back the right speaker was not working, but as of my last visit (May 2024) it's fine again. BLESS🙏

UPDATE July 2024: The left speaker is now... gone. And the pad is covered in weird gunk that I just slip on, yay -_-

This is specifically the Vaughan D&B cab, and FUCK this thing. The cab itself is fine, but the location is terrible and it's impossible to get on 90% of the time. It's not even updated...!!

That being said, DDR is fine. It has a massive song selection (though I usually opt for the same 2 songs lol),

Come on, do I really need any other songs? Eternal is eternal~

Pump It Up Phoenix

Honestly, I really don't care at all for Pump It Up. Playing this is essentially my coping mechanism for the fact that every Rec Room in Canada has PIU, meanwhile they deprive us of DDR...

Admittedly, PIU is fine, and honestly I think the 5 panels flow a lot better (especially for doubles). However, there aren't a ton of songs that really appeal to me on it, so unlike ITG and DDR where I want to spend hours grinding out of my favs, when I hop on PIU I usually just go to "random" and hope I don't get a shitter. I do like a decent amount of the Banya and KaW's stuff, but there's just not enough that appeals to me, or the songs that go hard just aren't accessible with my shit skills.

As a result, I don't really have a ton of motivation to play this, and I usually prefer to just shell out money for the GO Train and go play ITG/DDR instead.

Side note, as of writing (August 2024) I haven't gotten to try Phoenix 2024 yet, I heard there's been a good amount of changes since Phoenix 2023 but I haven't gotten to get out and try it since release.

My life and joy... I will probably make a dedicated page for this at some point, so I'm gonna save my rambling for that.

Other games I'm familiar with, but don't really have that much to say about (at least for now):

Apparently I don't play a lot of console releases, huh.
